The first reason that school uniforms should not be permitted is because they conflict with religions. This becomes an issue because if your religion calls for

you to wear something as you come of age, such as a headscarf or a yamaka, your school dress code would not tolerate that. In Oklahoma, an eleven-

year-old girl was suspended from her school for wearing a headscarf. The school said that the dress code had no acceptations for religious beliefs.

Benjamin Franklin also states that every one should “treat religious items as you would any other item, no better, no worse.” (Science Academy attorney

D.D. Hayes) If a school chooses to make a strict dress code, they should put into consideration if it would be appropriate to wear in certain religions. A

grandmother in North Carolina argued with the school board because she thinks that the uniform is against the Christian religion.
